Where Have You Been?
I saw you —
In a place I can no longer name.
A bar, a shop, or the fragile edge of a dream.
And in that moment,
my heart lifted and shattered at once:
Where have you been?
How could you leave us?
Do you know how we miss you?
But no words came.
Only my eyes,
flooded with the sorrow of all these silent months.
And your eyes,
mirroring mine,
as if to say:
My dearest daughter, I don’t know what happened either.
We stood there,
separated not by love,
But by the thin, aching veil of worlds.
And all we could do was look —
and in that looking,
We said everything.
A dark cloud that wraps around me like a damp cloak — and I realised, you wear it too.
